About Us:
Our Past, Present and More...
We are ALL about weaving!

In late summer of 1974 a group of people interested in weaving met at the home of Hilda Daily with the idea creating an organization that would meet regularly. They officially named the group the Poverty Creek Handweavers. The first newsletter was sent out in October of 1975 and noted a current membership of 16.

Since then our group has grown to over 70 members from several counties in southwestern Virginia and West Virginia.

The group’s name was changed to The Handweavers Guild of the New River Valley to better reflect the regional nature of our growing membership.
